“When it comes to drums, nothing beats the real thing.”

Drums provide the foundation to which great songs are built on. It’s all about the right beat and nothing can compare to the sound and feel of a real drum kit played well.

Remote Drum Recording

In todays music industry many musicians are able to record their own music at home due to the recent affordability of recording software, the quality of amp simulators and powerful home computers.

Recording drums can be a real expense and a hassle to organise. You need the space, the microphones, an engineer, multiple recording channels and most importantly a good drummer. So with this in mind home studios are turning to drum sampling software. Don’t get me wrong, there are some great products out there but nothing beats the real thing. This is where I come in.

In no time at all he knew what to play. The drums are brilliant and compliment my song perfectly.

The Drum Doctor

So you’ve finally taken the plunge and bought the drum kit of your dreams. It looks great and you’re ready to upset the neighbours. But hang on, you’ve spent all this money and it turns out the drums don’t sound very nice; the snare is buzzy, the bass drum is boomy and the toms are making all sorts of weird noises. What’s going on here?

Unfortunately drums don’t sound great straight out of the box. This is very common. There are many factors involved that make drums sound great. Drum skins are so important to the quality of sound and manufacturers don’t tend to put great quality skins on the kit in the factory. The correct type and position of dampening (o-rings, moon gel etc.) can really help make a kit sound amazing and of course the drums need to be tuned correctly. This is where I come in.

My drum kit has never sounded so good!
— George Pickering, Professional Drummer

I’ve built up years of experience preparing drum kits for the recording studio to make them sound the best they can. Whether you’ve just entered the world of drums (welcome!) or been playing for years I can help make your drums sing.
